Gautam Gambhir returns to KKR – IPL 2024

Previously, Gambhir was with the KKRs from 2011 to 2017, during which time the Kolkata-based club won the title twice. Gautam Gambhir has returned to Kolkata Knight Riders as a “Mentor” ahead of the Indian Premier League’s 2024 season, the two-time champion stated on Wednesday. Former Kolkata Knight Riders captain Gautam Gambhir has resigned down as Lucknow Super Giants coach before of the 2024 Indian Premier League season and has returned to the Purple and Gold team, as predicted. Gambhir served as LSG’s mentor for two years and will look to lead KKR to new heights.

Gautam Gambhir has returned to the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as a trainer ahead of the 2024 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). He was a two-time trophy-winning captain with the team. Gambhir, who worked as a mentor for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for a few of years, will seek to prolong his successful run with KKR, as club co-owner Shah Rukh Khan was delighted to see the skipper return.

In a statement on the KKR website, Gambhir stated that coming to KKR is different, and even though he is not an emotional guy, he is experiencing the nerves of returning to where it all began for him in terms of IPL success. He said,”I am not an emotional person and not many things move me. But this is different. This is back to where it all started. Today, there is a lump in my throat and fire in my heart as I think about slipping into that purple and gold jersey once again. I am not only coming back to KKR but I am coming back to the city of joy. I am back. I am hungry. I am number 23. Ami KKR”.

In seven years with KKR, Gambhir won the title twice and created uncountable memories for the rest of the squad, including head coach Chandrakant Pandit and players like Shreyas Iyer and Nitish Rana. “Gautam has always been part of the family, and this is our Captain returning back home in a different incarnation as a “Mentor,” Shah Rukh Khan added, welcoming the ‘captain’ back. He will be dearly missed, and we all look forward to Chandu Sir and Gautam instilling the never-say-die attitude and sportsmanship that they stand for, as they work to create magic with Team KKR.”

Lucknow Super Giants, who hired Justin Langer as their new coach, qualified for the playoffs in both of their first two seasons but were eliminated both times. While many anticipated Gambhir to go, stand-in skipper Nitish Rana hinted at it a few months ago, and now that it has occurred, few are surprised.
