Australia has participated in the most games in cycle (12), winning eight of them, with three losses and one tie. Although Australia started the cycle with a 100-point lead, sluggish, over-rate offences cost them 10 points, bringing their total down to 90 points, still the most of any team.

India, meanwhile, has amassed six victories in nine games, two draws, and two losses. Despite having 74 points, the runners-up from the previous cycle are ahead of Australia in the standings because of their higher points percentage (PCT). The PCT is more important than the overall number of points earned in a cycle, as per the World Test Championship playing criteria established by the ICC.

India’s PCT is at 68.51, while Australia has gained two victories in New Zealand to go up to 62.51. The Kiwis, who held the top slot until recently, have virtually fallen to third place with three victories and an equal number of defeats (their PCT is 50).
