Jasprit Bumrah Out For fourth Test against England

Jasprit Bumrah, the leading pacer for Team India, will likely get a break ahead of the fourth Test match against England, which gets underway in Ranchi on Friday, February 23.

The right-arm fast bowler played the third Test match in Rajkot despite earlier speculations that he could be granted a rest.

On Sunday, February 18, India crushed England by 434 runs in the Rajkot Test.

On Day 4, India declared at 430/4 for their second innings, giving England a target of 557. After 39.4 overs, the visitors were run out for 122.

Bumrah is not expected to be included in India’s starting XI for the fourth Test of the series against England in Ranchi, according to a report in Cricbuzz.

Bumrah is not expected to travel with the Indian squad when they depart Rajkot on Tuesday. On Monday, he may take a car from Rajkot to Ahmedabad.

According to the source, the 30-year-old’s participation in the fifth and final Test in Dharamsala may be dependent upon the outcome of the fourth Test.

Mohammed Siraj has been given a break ahead of the second Test in Visakhapatnam.

In addition, Mukesh Kumar will re-join the Test team in Ranchi after being released from the third Test to take part in the Ranji Trophy.

It is unclear whether India would look to replace Bumrah should he be rested for the next match.

With 17 wickets from all three matches at an average of 13.65, Bumrah is leading the series’ wicket-taker’s leaderboard.

Since the new-ball bowler has already bowled 80.5 overs.

The team management believes that the pacer needs to take a break in order to control his workload.

Following back surgery in March 2023, Bumrah was unavailable for major events such as the upcoming World Test Championship (WTC) final and the IPL 2023.
