Jay Shah Will Be The Next Chairman Of ICC

Jay Shah : BCCI secretary and ACC head Jay Shah is reportedly seeking to become the next chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC), according to a story published on Cricbuzz. According to the article, Shah may resign from his position as president of the ACC to run for the chairmanship of the ICC, which will be decided in November of this year.

The BCCI secretary will have to resign from her position as ACC president if Shah decides to run for the office of ICC Chairman because it is an independent position.

Greg Barclay is the current Chairman of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC). He was overwhelmingly elected to the position in November 2022, served for two years, and his term ends this year.

According to a report on Cricbuzz, the ACC will hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Bali on January 30 and 31. Along with a number of other topics, such as the next location for the Asia Cup, Shah and the other ACC members will be debating the aforementioned one.

Pakistan and Sri Lanka hosted the Asia Cup 2023, with the island nation hosting the championship match. In the final, India triumphed against Sri Lanka to win the trophy in Colombo.

The story goes on to say that ACC members will present the media rights as well. The ACC media rights have been controlled by Disney Star for the past eight years, but a change may be in the works. There aren’t many other broadcasters that might be in Bali for the AGM.

The award was given by Chanakya Chaudhary, Chairman of the CII National Committee on Sports, who highlighted Shah’s crucial contribution to elevating Indian cricket to previously unheard-of levels. A number of groundbreaking accomplishments that have improved the sport and changed its dynamics serve as evidence for this acknowledgment.

“CONGRATULATIONS to BCCI Honorary Secretary @JayShah on being awarded the Sports Business Leader of the Year Award at the @FollowCII Sports Business Awards 2023,” the BCCI wrote on social media site “X” in response to Shah’s victory. It’s a first for any Indian sports administration head, and this honour is well-earned!

Jay Shah’s Term Extended By One Year

It is being reported that Shah’s term as the president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has been extended by one year. While Shah’s extension was proposed by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) president Shammi Silva for the second time, the nomination, it is being learnt was unanimously backed by all the members of the ACC. With Shah at the helm of affairs of ACC, the body has achieved significant progress in promoting and developing cricket across the Asian region. Notably, the ACC successfully organized the Asia Cup in T20 format in 2022 and in ODI format in 2023, showcasing Asia’s capability in hosting premier cricket events.
