IPL 2024: Luke Wood came as a Replacement of Injured Jason Behrendorff

Luke Wood has been announced as a replacement for injured Jason Behrendoorf led by new captain of Mumbai Indians Hardik Pandya. During his training for the Indian Premier League with Mumbai Indians, Behrendorff suffered a mishap resulting in a left fibula fracture. This injury necessitates an eight-week recovery period, thereby excluding him from participating in the IPL season.

He was traded back to his original team Mumbai Indians from Royal challengers Bangalore. He had an average performance in the previous edition of IPL 2023 clinching 14 wickets in 12 games with an average of 27.64. Before the upcoming edition mumbai indians had to make changes in their squad as Behrendorff got injured. Luke wood has been welcomed by the Mumbai Indians .

Luke Wood has taken eight wickets from five T20Is with an average of 21.75. He is a left arm fast bowler who has played five T20 and three ODI for the Three Lions. Mumbai picked him for merely 50 Lakh INR. 

He has vast experience in the T20 format. 140 games has been played by this left arm fast bowler in the shortest format of cricket plucking 147 wickets at an average of 25.87 with an strike rate of 18.30 and an economy of 8.45.

He has played across the world and has been part of a lot of teams like Quetta Gladiators, Melbourne Stars, Sylheth Strikers and more. Wood has been the part of Babar Azam led team Peshwar -zalmi. He has picked up 12 wickets in 2024 PSL season with an average of 29.08.

He might not be part of the playing eleven in presence of the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and coetzee. Wood will be sharing his experience with the team and will share the dressing room with Mumbai Indians.
