Mohammed Shami is out of IPL 2024 due to injury.

Mohammed Shami will have to spend additional time on the sidelines as a result of his injury, which will prevent him from playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2024.

The BCCI official who remained anonymous was cited as the source by news agency PTI while reporting on the newest development.

After finishing as the best wicket-taker in the ICC World Cup with 24 wickets in seven matches, the Gujarat Titans pacer has not played since.

Even though Shami had an ankle injury during the competition, she decided to play through it. He didn’t disclose the injury till after the competition was completed and India had placed second after losing to Australia in the championship match.

Since missing the South Africa tour and the current five-Test series against England, Shami who received the Arjuna Award at the National .

Sports Awards in January will now watch his GT colleagues try to win a second championship in three editions without him.

Mohammed Shami’s injury raises questions about how NCA handles injuries.

Shami went to London in the last week of January to take special ankle injections, and they told him that after three weeks, he could start light running and take it from thereon.

“But the injection hasn’t worked and now the only option left is surgery. He will shortly leave for UK for surgery. IPL seems out of question,” a senior BCCI source told PTI on the condition of anonymity.

In his ten-year career, Shami, who recently received the Arjuna Award, has amassed 229 Test, 195 ODI, and 24 T20I wickets.

This development calls the National Cricket Academy’s (NCA) injury recovery management regimen for Shami into doubt.

It is now very improbable that the speed bowling maestro will be able to recover in time for India’s home Test matches (October–November) against New Zealand and Bangladesh.
