Ravichandran Ashwin Withdraw From Current Test

Ravichandran Ashwin : Due to a family medical issue, Team India all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin has withdrawn from the current third Test against England.

On the second day of the Rajkot Test, Ashwin created history by becoming the second player from India to reach 500 wickets. He will not, however, be participating in the next three days of the Test owing to an unanticipated circumstance, and it is unclear what his position will be for the remainder of the Test series.

Following the conclusion of the day’s play at the Niranjan Shah Stadium on Friday, February 16, the BCCI issued a short statement about the matter.

Ravichandran Ashwin Withdrawn From 3rd Test

Virat Kohli also resigned from the team for personal reasons, thus Team India is already without his services for the current series.

With only ten players, the Men in Blue will need to make it through the remaining minutes of their current match against England. Ashwin’s contributions with the bat and the ball would be much missed by the hosts, particularly the way that England bounced back after losing the toss and losing 445 in the first innings.

“Ravichandran Ashwin has withdrawn from the Test squad, effective immediately due to a family medical emergency. In these challenging times, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the team fully supports Ashwin,” the BCCI’s statement.

“The BCCI extends its heartfelt support to the champion cricketer and his family. The health and well-being of the players and their loved ones are of utmost importance. The Board requests respect for the privacy of Ashwin and his family as they navigate through this challenging time,” the statement added.

“The Board and the team will continue to provide any necessary assistance to Ashwin and will keep the lines of communication open to offer support as needed. Team India appreciates the understanding and empathy of the fans and media during this sensitive period,” the statement concluded.

Will Ten Men Play for India ?

India will not be able to play with their full playing XI without Ashwin. Instead of Ashwin, the Indian side will be permitted to field a replacement, but that player would not be allowed to bat or bowl.

Ravichandran Ashwin 500 Wicket Milestone In Tests

After failing to achieve the milestone in the previous Tests in Hyderabad and Vishakapatnam, Ravichandran Ashwin finally claimed his 500th Test wicket in only seven deliveries. After dismissing Zak Crawley to give India their first breakthrough, the off-spinner bowled seven overs on Day 2 and gave up 37 runs.

“It’s been quite a long journey. Firstly, I’d like to dedicate this feat to my father. He’s been with me through thick and thin and probably has a heart attack every time he’s watched me play. His health has probably gone for a ,toss because of that,” Ashwin said.

The veteran was interacting with Anil Kumble as part of the broadcast, thus the situation was not immediately obvious after the day’s play. In addition to discussing the circumstances leading up to the second part of the Test, he dedicated the most recent accomplishment to his father.
