Rohit Sharma will lead India in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024, confirms Jay Shah

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 will take place in June. The United States of America and the West Indies will host the competition. The co-hosts USA and Canada will play each other in Dallas on June 1 (June 2 IST), to kick off the 20-team game.
The Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados, will host the championship game on June 29. In the T20 World Cup 2024, India will play their first match against Ireland on Wednesday, June 5.
The high-stakes encounter vs Pakistan will take place at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on June 9.
Even though there are still more than three months until the T20 World Cup 2024 begins
BCCI secretary Jay Shah declared Rohit Sharma to be India’s captain and expressed his confidence that Men in Blue will win the championship under his direction during an event held in Rajkt on Wednesday, February 14, in advance of the third Test between India and England.
“Main aap ko promise karna chahta hoon ki Rohit Sharma ki kaptani mein 2024 mein Barbados mein hum jarur Bharat ka jhanda gadenge (I want to promise you that we’ll lift the trophy in Barbados at the 2024 T20 World Cup under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy).”
The Indian squad that advanced to the T20 World Cup semifinals in 2022 was captained by Rohit.
However, he did not appear in a single T20 International match in 2023 after India’s 10 wicket defeat against England in the semi-final on November 10, 2022.
When he returned as India’s captain for a three-match T20I series against Afghanistan in January 2024, all speculation that he may never play T20Is for India again was dashed.
On January 17, he even validated his return with a century (121*) in the third T20 International at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Rohit Sharma and Co. placed in Group A in the 2024 T20 World Cup
India, captained by Rohit Sharma, is in Group A with Ireland, Pakistan, the US, and Canada at the 2024 T20 World Cup. The Blues will play Ireland in New York on June 5. See the schedule below.
