Rinku Singh Joins Duleep Trophy as Shubman Gill Steps Down; Rishabh Pant, Axar Patel Among Players Released
2 min readThe senior men’s selection committee, headed by Ajit Agarkar, revealed significant roster changes for the three teams participating in the Duleep Trophy 2024 second round. With the exception of Sarfaraz Khan, every cricket player selected for the Indian team for the opening Test match against Bangladesh has been released from their Duleep Trophy obligations. On September 12, they will board a plane for Chennai, where they will participate in a training camp. September 19 marks the start of the first Test.
More time was granted to Suryakumar Yadav to return to full fitness, as his recuperation is progressing as planned. Before the third round, he is anticipated to join the India C team, which is the only team remaining unaltered in the competition.
Pratham Singh (Railways), Akshay Wadkar (Vidarbha CA), and SK Rasheed (Andhra CA) took the places of India A Captain Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Dhruv Jurel, Kuldeep Yadav, and Akash Deep. Shams Mulani, a left-arm spinner, will take Kuldeep’s position in the team, while Akashdeep will be replaced by Aaqib Khan (UPCA).

The India A captain has been announced as Mayank Agarwal.
Suyash Prabhudessai and Rinku Singh have been included in the India B squad as Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant’s replacements after they were called up to the national team. Sarfaraz Khan is scheduled to participate in the second-round match prior to being called up to the national squad, while Yash Dayal has been called up for the first time.
The India B team has welcomed Himanshu Mantri. Nishant Sindhu will take Axar Patel’s place on the Indian national team, having come through India D. Tushar Deshpande will be replaced by Vidwath Kaverappa of India A in the second round since he is out due to injury.
