The game of cricket is one of the most watched and followed sports on the globe. As the game of cricket evolves over time, with past records broken and new ones set every year, it is required to evaluate teams regularly.

With T20 cricket towering above other formats in terms of viewership and revenue, it is crucial to determine which country has the best-performing squad in the shortest format and take a look at the latest ICC T20 world cup rankings.

#1. India

The Indian Cricket Team is governed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India(BCCI), which is the governing body of cricket in the country. Over many decades, the Indian team has seen many talented cricketers like MS Dhoni, Yuvraj Singh, Virat Kohli, and more. The infrastructure of the Indian Cricket Team has improved significantly over the last decade or so. Plenty of talented youngsters are getting exposure and a chance to play against the big guns of the cricketing world.

They are also the current holders of the ICC Test trophy and also created history by winning a Test series in Australia after 71 years, a feat never achieved by any Asian team. Overall, India stands tall as the best T20 team in the world with a rating of 265 and also has one of the best bench strengths at the moment.

#2. England

The team of England is coming in at number 2 in our latest ICC T20 ranking. The team is governed by the England and Wales Cricket Board at the moment. It was the first team along with Australia to be granted Test status in 1877 and gained full membership of the ICC in 1909.

England Team

England is the birthplace of Cricket. However, when it comes to the big leagues, they have had pretty bad luck. The team won their first T20 Cricket World Cup in 2010, under the captaincy of Paul Collingwood. As of now, the England team is a well-balanced attacking unity with little to no flaws. They follow a “hit every ball out of the park” approach and it worked wonders when the team was finally able to grab the prestigious ODI World Cup Title in 2019, a trophy that has been missing in the country since 1975.

#3. New Zealand

The New Zealand Cricket Team, also popularly known as Black Caps is one of the underdogs of the cricketing world. Even with a solid squad, the team has been unlucky in its World Cup campaigns. They have made it to the semi-final six times but have failed to qualify for the Finals each time.

However, in 2015, under Brendon McCullum’s leadership, the team made it to their first-ever final but ended up losing to Australia. Soon after, Kane Williamson took hold of the command of the Black Caps. However, the team still managed to secure a rating of 255 with 13,534 points in the latest ICC T20 rankings.

#4. Pakistan

Pakistan

The Pakistan team, under the leadership of Misbah, climbed to the No. 1 spot in the Test rankings in 2016. A year later, they made history by securing the Champions Trophy for the first time, after beating arch-rivals India. It also became the No. 1 ranked T20I side in 2018.

With great heavy hitters like Babar Azam and Mohammed Rizwan, along with a splendid bowling lineup, the Pakistan team is a force to be reckoned with. The team had an overall rating of 251 with 13,325 points in the ICC T20 team rankings.

#5. Australia

Australia

With a win rate of over 60%, Australia is one of the most successful cricket teams to ever exist. The team has a record eight ODI World Cup final appearances( (1975, 1987, 1996, 1999, 2003, 2007, 2015 and 2023) and have won the World Cup a record-breaking six times(1987, 1999, 2003, 2007, 2015 and 2023).

West Indies

However, their form dipped and the team failed to achieve anything substantial over the years.
