Yashasvi Jaiswal equals Virat Kohli’s Record

Yashasvi Jaiswal, a young opener for Team India, has tied Virat Kohli’s record for the most runs scored by an Indian batsman in a Test series against England.

On Sunday, February 26, the southpaw accomplished the feat on Day 4 of the fourth Test match against England in Ranchi.

The 22-year-old, who had gone 16 without losing the previous night, scored 37 off 44 balls as he attempted to take Joe Root on but instead ended up slicing the delivery, and a diving James Anderson at backward point caught it.

India would have preferred Jaiswal to continue and take more balls, but throughout his innings, the young player did manage to tie a significant milestone.

Current head coach Rahul Dravid scored 602 runs in six innings in England in 2002, ranking him among other Indian hitters who have scored the most runs against England in a Test series. Having scored 593 runs in 10 innings while on tour in England in 2018, Kohli is back on the list.
