2 min read

Both underdog teams and well-known teams dominated the matches in the Battlegrounds Mobile India Series (BGIS) 2023 Round 2 qualifications. Before Round 2 began, Krafton provided a list of the teams that had been disqualified from the competition. 512 teams had proceeded to Round 2.

BGIS Round 3 is ready to begin, and Krafton has just released a new list of Round 2 disqualified teams.

The grounds for teams’ exclusion from BGIS 2023

In the online qualifiers, more than 2000 teams took part, and 256 of them played in Round 2 of BGIS 2023. Because of hackers and cheats in their qualification matches, many teams were eliminated from the competition.

Prior to Round 2, Krafton India Esports took severe action against a number of BGIS 2023 teams after receiving complaints from the community. Another list of teams who have been eliminated from BGIS 2023 Round 3 has now been made public by Krafton. The BGIS 2023 rulebook’s provisions 4.1 and 6.2.4 are stated as the grounds for the teams’ disqualification.

Section 4.1 Player Equipment

Only mobile phones or authorised portable devices are permitted for use by players during tournaments or official contests. Without the clear written consent of the tournament officials, players are not permitted to utilise any type of auxiliary device, including tablets, adapters, controllers, Bluetooth keyboards, and mouse. Players are not permitted to play on a computer or any other device that is not a portable device using an emulator.

Section 6.2.4 Ringing

It is against the law to play using another person’s gamertag or account, or to encourage or urge someone else to do so.

  • 27 other teams were also suspended by Krafton for breaking various regulations in its rulebook. Although the reason for the ban was not specified, it was probably because someone had seriously broken the regulations.
  • In BGIS 2023 Round 2, 512 teams competed, and some of these eliminated teams had placed in the top seven in their respective groups and advanced to Round 3.
  • Mashroom Boyies came in sixth place in Group 7, however the group has already been eliminated.
  • Similarly, despite finishing fifth in their respective groups, 4Strangers and 9Tail Esports were disqualified for violating the rules.
