RCB Signs Tim Seifert as a Replacement Player for Jacob Bethell

RCB has been qualified for the IPL 2025 playoffs and is hoping to win the title this year. But the England youngster Jacob Bethell will not be available to play the playoff matches for RCB. Bethell will leave the RCB squad after the May 23 league match to join England’s national squad.

Therefore, RCB has signed experienced New Zealand wicketkeeper-batter Tim Seifert as a temporary replacement player, aiming to keep their playoff hopes strong with experience and versatility.

Tim Seifert with International Experience

Tim Seifert is a wicketkeeper-batter from New Zealand with vast experience in international cricket and the T20 format of cricket. He was also part of the IPL, where he played for the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2021 and for the Delhi Capitals in 2022. He will be joining the RCB squad from May 24th and strengthening the middle order in batting, also with a reliable wicketkeeping option.

RCB is currently in the Second position in the IPL 2025 points table and has also qualified for the playoffs. To fill the gap of Jacob Bethell, RCB has selected the experienced player signing for Rs 2 Crore as a temporary replacement player.

Impact of Bethell’s Departure on the RCB Squad

Jacob Bethell was a promising youngster with the all-rounder capabilities of a left-handed batter and part-time spinner. But in most of the matches, Jacob Bethell was not included in the RCB squad. He added depth and flexibility to the squad as an opener. His departure just before the playoffs created a potential gap in the squad. Hence, the RCB squad has gone for the experienced international player Tim Seifert.

Adding Tim Seifert to the squad will bring another wicketkeeper option for the RCB and also offer a more experienced player in the team. The replacement will ensure that the RCB squad will be balanced after the departure of the various players.
