Team Top-G wins DOTA 2 event at NESC 2023
2 min readTeam Top-G won the National Esports Championships (NESC) 2023, hosted by the Esports Federation of India (ESFI), showcasing outstanding coordination and fantastic skill, and earned a spot in the regional qualifications for the Global Esports Games (GEG) 2023. To earn a spot in the regional finals in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the squad must now compete against Malaysia and Mongolia.
The team of Krish Gupta (Krish-), Khaja Hussain (Pinkman), Ketan Goyal (Evil-ash), Vishal Vernekar (Hbk), and replacement Darshan Bata (A35) defeated The Mob by a score of 2-0 in the best-of-three finals, which were captained by Manav Kunte (mnz). Earlier this year, Team Top-G competed for India in the DOTA 2 Asian qualifications for the 15th World Esports Championships.

Manav Kunte, the captain of Team Top-G, expressed his excitement for the triumph, saying, “Winning the NESC 2023 for the second time this year is a weird experience. Our ability to qualify for the regional competition for GEG23 is a result of the effort, commitment, and expertise of every team member. We are grateful to ESFI for giving us the chance to represent India on the international stage, and we are motivated to make our country proud.
Both teams battled hard in the opening game of the championships, but Top-G prevailed 51–32 to take the lead. However, the second game was incredibly lopsided, as Top-G easily defeated The Mob by 24-6 to win the title.
The Global Esports Games 2023 (GEG23) are planned for December 11–16 and will include DOTA 2, Street Fighter, e-football 2023, and PUBG Mobile as the four main games. All competitors must be older than 18 to guarantee a fair and competitive atmosphere. DOTA 2, e-football 2023, and Street Fighter 6 are the three games in the Open category in which India will compete.
On September 9, the national qualifiers for DOTA 2 will end, and the qualifiers for e-football 2023 and Street Fighter 6 will begin.
The NESC’23 will use a double-elimination style of play. On the ESFI’s official Facebook and YouTube pages, all the Championships action will be webcast live.
