ICC U19 World Cup 2024 Super Six matches
3 min readIn the ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2024, twelve of the sixteen competing countries have advanced and will now play in a quick ‘Super Six’ round to get to the semi-finals. The 12 teams have been split into two groups of six for this round, with Group A teams mixing with Group D teams and Group B teams mixing with C teams from the group stage.
That being said, not every team will face every other team, unlike in the group round. Instead, each team in a Super Six group will only play against teams it hasn’t previously faced. For instance, while having the same bracket, India, the champions of Group A, would not face Bangladesh or Ireland in the Super Six round. Teams that placed equal in their respective groups will also stay away from one another. India will thus not face Pakistan, who won three of their three games to lead Group D.
As a result, India’s Super Six round matches will only be against Nepal (Group D, Third) and New Zealand (Group D, Second). The two groups’ top two teams will go on to the semifinals.
India has won five times in a row as the ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup winners. With four games remaining, the Boys in Blue may become the first and only team since Pakistan in 2006 to successfully defend their title.
Teams are placed in their respective Super Six groups based on the points, victories, and net run rates they accrued throughout their competitions against other qualifying teams. Each team will then play two more games to decide the semifinalist.
From Tuesday, January 30 to Saturday, February 3, Super Six matches will be held at four different locations: Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein, Kimberley Oval in Kimberley, JB Marks Oval in Potchefstroom, and Willowmoore Park in Benoni, which will host the semi-finals and final.

The match between reigning champions India and New Zealand in Bloemfontein on January 30, Australia and England in Kimberley on January 31, and Pakistan and Bangladesh in Benoni on February 3 are some of the most intriguing matches in the Super Six stage.
Before their tournament finishes, teams who did not advance to the Super Six stage will play another match at Willowmoore Park. USA vs Afghanistan on January 31 and Scotland vs Namibia on February 1 are two such matches.
