DC vs SRH : Everything You Need to Know
2 min readIndian Premier League (IPL) 2024 teams Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals both lost their opening games. Even though SRH has now shown remarkable growth, the DC’s journey hasn’t been easy thus far.
After six games, SRH came away with four victories. Conversely, DC has so far earned three victories.
The Hyderabad-based team defeated their most recent opponents by nine runs in their IPL 2023 matchup.
The Orange Army crushed their own 277-run total record to place an incredible 287 target on the board during their tantalizing matchup with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Monday. Travis Head, the opener for the South Africa Royals, brought back memories of his World Cup final knock with a stunning 102 runs off only 41 deliveries, which featured 8 sixes and 9 fours. Heinrich Klassen then unleashed his devastating performance, scoring 67 runs off just 21 balls and 7 sixes, putting SRH in a strong position to challenge their own record. Despite a comeback by Dinesh Kartik and Faf Du Plessis, the team prevailed by a margin of 25 runs.
Conversely, the Delhi Capitals have turned things around after defeating the Gujarat Titans, the previous champions, for their lowest IPL total. The DC bowlers, Ishant Sharma (2 wickets) and Mukesh Kumar (3 wickets), sent GT’s key hitters back to the pavilion and limited the previous champions to only 89 runs in total. This allowed DC to seize control of the game. In response, the DC batsmen stumbled in their chase and attempted to quickly conclude the game. But squad captain Rishabh Pant made sure the team won easily in the end.

Pitch Report
It would be interesting to watch how the pitch performs in the early going of the league as DC plays its first home game at Arun Jaitley Stadium. It is known that the field saw a few changes before the 2023 World Cup, and now it is batting-friendly rather than slow and spinning. Nonetheless, teams batting second have won 46 of the 85 games played at this location.
Head To Head
There have been 23 meetings between the two teams, with the SRH leading Delhi by a slim margin of 12 victories to Delhi’s 11. The previous meeting between the two teams, which took place at Arun Jaitley Stadium last year, ended in a victory for the former champions.
Venue and Timing
The match between the two sides will now take place on Saturday, April 20, at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium starting from 7.30 pm.
