In an improper physical altercation with Nepali captain Rohit Paudel during a T20 World Cup 2024 Group D encounter at the Arnos Vale Ground, Kingstown in St. Vincent and the Grenadines on Sunday, June 16, Bangladeshi bowler Tanzim Hasan Sakib was disciplined by the ICC. The youthful right-arm bowler was fined fifteen percent of his match earnings after it was determined that he had violated Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct. Tanzim’s disciplinary record has also been updated with one demerit point; this was his first offense in a 24-month period.

A player gets banned and their demerit points are converted to suspension points if they accrue four or more in a 24-month period. Depending on which comes first for the player, two suspension points are equivalent to a ban from one Test, two ODIs, or two T20Is. Level 1 violations are punishable by an official reprimand as a minimum, 50% of the player’s match fee as a maximum, and one or two demerit points.

The respective teammates and on-field umpires kept the two apart.
