After India won the T20 World Cup, team captain and all-around talent Ravindra Jadeja declared his retirement from Twenty20 international cricket. Jadeja announced his exit from the game’s shortest format, following in the footsteps of India’s batting legends Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. The all-rounder announced his retirement on his official Instagram account.

For many years, Jadeja was an essential member of the Indian T20I team, and in the 2024 tournament, he was an important all-around player. In India’s semi-final victory over England, Jadeja had a significant cameo at bat, hitting an unbeaten 17 off only 9 deliveries. Jadeja was very economical for the team, surrendering at a 7.57 economy rate, while taking only one wicket during the competition.

In 74 Twenty20 Internationals, Jadeja played for India. He amassed 515 runs in 41 innings and went undefeated in 17 of them. The all-round player batted in the bottom middle order most of the time. Jadeja ended his T20I career with an outstanding 7.13 rpo, demonstrating his ability to maintain a great economy rate with the ball.
In Tests and One-Day Internationals, Jadeja will still represent the team and is still an important player.
