Gautam Gambhir

With Gautam Gambhir’s appointment, Indian cricket entered a new phase. In his upcoming innings for Team India, Gambhir will don a different hat. He feels privileged to be back at the national camp. On Tuesday, the two-time World Cup champion formally took over as head coach of the T20 World Champions, replacing Rahul Dravid. India’s lengthy wait for an ICC championship in the Caribbean was ended by Gambhir’s predecessor, Rahul Dravid, in his coaching swansong.

The Indian squad led by Dravid made history by being the first men’s team to win a T20 World Cup in the ICC competition without losing a single match. Following Dravid’s remarkable run, Gambhir, who succeeded The Wall as India’s head coach, saved particular appreciation for him. Dravid led Team India to three finals in the ICC. Last year, Team India won the Asia Cup title while being led by Dravid.

GG is happy to Serve the Nation as Head Coach

Serving my people, my nation, and my tricolor is an utmost honor. I would want to use this chance to express my gratitude to Rahul Dravid and his support crew for an outstanding tenure with the squad. After the BCCI officially announced the hiring of the former India opener, Gambhir stated, “I am honored and excited to take on the role of Head Coach for Team India.”

In addition, Gambhir is excited to work with VVS Laxman, who is now touring Zimbabwe in the capacity of India’s temporary head coach for the five-match Twenty20 International series. India will host Sri Lanka for three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) and as many One Day Internationals (ODIs) following the away visit to Zimbabwe. The recently appointed head coach’s first duty will be the next Sri Lanka series.
