Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma to Retire from International Cricket

With India winning the 2024 T20 World Cup, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli enjoyed the ideal conclusion to their Twenty20 International careers. With 257 runs, Rohit led India’s batting attack, but after a well-balanced performance of 76, Kohli was named Player of the Match. The two iconic figures in Indian cricket wrapped themselves in the national flag, shed happy tears on each other’s shoulders, and gave over the stage to the following generation.
Even while it was a very dramatic moment, it raised the issue of how long till they give up on playing international cricket completely. Kohli is almost 36, and Rohit is 37. In an ideal world, both would want to chase another peak by competing in the next ODI World Cup, but by the time it arrives on July 27, Rohit would be 40 and Kohli 39. Although there is always a chance the two may make it to South Africa, Amit Mishra believes it is unlikely.

The seasoned leg-spinner from India, who has gained notoriety for his very contentious remarks, believes that neither Rohit nor Kohli will be playing in the next ODI World Cup. To be honest, Mishra has gone so far as to say that Rohit and Kohli will depart from the Indian team sooner rather than later. For the younger generation of gamers would suffer if they don’t.

Kohli and Rohit have been on a well-earned vacation since winning the World Cup and commemorating their victory in India. Currently visiting London with his family, Kohli was spotted going to a Kirtan with Anushka Sharma, his wife. In contrast, Rohit has a more hectic schedule. Before taking a plane to the USA, where he attended a few events, he made an appearance at the Wimbledon semifinal match between Carlos Alcaraz and Daniil Medvedev at the Centre Court. In fact, it was there when rumors regarding Rohit’s future in cricket were dispelled when he answered a question about it.

The ODI World Cup is the biggest event that Rohit has yet to win, although Kohli has won the last three major ICC limited-overs competitions. While acknowledging the significance of the T20 World Cup, Rohit has often stated that, in his opinion, the ODI World Cup is the only World Cup.
