Thulasimathi Murugesan

Thulasimathi Murugesan, an Indian para shuttler, guaranteed that her country will win eight medals at the 2024 Paralympics. She defeated her fellow countrywoman Manisha Ramadass in the Women’s SU5 semi-final early on Monday, securing her place in the gold medal match. The two Indians engaged in a fierce battle, and in less than forty minutes, Murugesan emerged victorious, defeating Ramadass 23-21, 21-17. Ramadass still had a chance to earn a Paralympic medal, thus she will play in the bronze medal match after the semi-final loss.

Because both players were adamant and shown their abilities, the first game ended up being fiercely disputed. Manisha made many saves to preserve game points, but she was unable to take advantage of the openings she generated. The opening set was won by Murugesan 23–21. Manisha got off to a great start in the second game, leading 11–10 at the half. Murugesan took full advantage of her opponent’s errors. She reached the final after winning the second set, 21-17, with a mix of accurate drop shots and well-placed moves.

In the mixed doubles bronze medal match, Nithya Sre and Sivarajan Solaimalai will try to place on the podium for even more Para Badminton glory.
