The fiery pacer Mohammad Amir from the Pakistan International Cricket team is hoping to achieve his dream of playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2026. This fast bowler is now planning to secure a British passport, as his wife is a UK citizen. If he is able to do so, he can plan his entry to the IPL auction of 2026 to play in the biggest T20 league in the world.

For those who don’t know, Pakistan players have been banned from playing in the Indian Premier League since 2008 because of the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks. But Amir is optimistic that these things will change, and he’ll be eligible to play in the next season. He not only wants to play IPL, but he has also made it clear that he wants to play IPL in the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) jersey. He said earlier that he wants to share the field with none other than the GOAT, Virat Kohli.

‘RCB is my favorite team, and I would love to play for them’

Amir opened up about his IPL aspirations on a Pakistani show, Haarna Mana Hai.

He said that by next year, he will have an opportunity to play in the IPL, and he is getting then why not play in the biggest T20 league. He also mentioned that he has a special place for RCB in his heart.

Amir expressed his desire to play for Royal Challengers Bangalore, stating that RCB is his favorite team in the IPL.

Amir & Kohli: A Mutual Respect

From the very beginning of his career, Amir has had a great sense of respect for the Indian star Virat Kohli. Virat Kohli also has shown mutual admiration for him. Amir fondly recalled a moment when Kohli gifted him a bat, which was very overwhelming for him.

“Virat is great and admires talent,” Amir said. “Virat Kohli gifted me his own bat, and I was completely overwhelmed by this nice gesture. I have always been a great admirer of his batting, and he respects my bowling. I even played some good knocks with that bat!”

Can Amir Fix RCB’s Bowling Woes?

Royal Challengers Bangalore has always been known for its powerful batting lineup, but when it comes to the bowling part, the team has suffered a lot since the beginning. Former Pakistan cricketer Ahmed Shehzad, who was also on the same show, Haarna Mana Hai, believes that Amir could be the missing piece for the RCB’s puzzle.

Shehzad pointed out that RCB desperately needs a bowler like Mohammad Amir to strengthen their bowling attack. While their batting lineup is already strong, bowling has remained a weak link. He believes that if Amir joins the squad, RCB could finally have a real shot at winning the IPL title.

Right now, Amir’s dream of playing in the is riding on him getting his British passport in time. If everything works well for him, then cricket fans might finally get to see one of Pakistan’s finest pacers steaming in to bowl in the IPL—and possibly for RCB.
