Riyan Parag is an Indian cricketer who represents India in the T20I and ODI formats. He is a talented all-rounder, a right-handed batsman and a bowler who can deliver both right-arm leg spin and off-spin. Riyan is known for his dynamic playing style and is regarded as one of the most exciting young talents in Indian cricket.
He gained early recognition by representing Assam in domestic tournaments and through his performances in the IPL with the Rajasthan Royals.
In 2019, he made history by becoming the youngest player in IPL history to score a half-century. Later on, he built his reputation with powerful batting and an impressive bowling spell.

Early life
Riyan Parag was born on 10th November 2001 in Guwahati, Assam, India. He comes from a sports-oriented family; his father, Parag Das, is a former first-class cricketer who represented Assam, Railways, and East Zone teams. His mother, Mithoo Barooah, is a national-level swimmer who represented India in the Asian Championships and South Asian Federation Games.
Influenced by his father’s cricketing background, Riyan also began playing cricket at a very young age. He was coached by his father, Parag Das. At the age of 12, he was selected for the Assam Under-16 cricket team, where he showcased his talent early on.
By the age of 15, he was already playing T20s and participating in the Ranji Trophy for Assam in 2015.
Later, he was selected to play for the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the IPL and went on to represent the Indian national team in both T20I and ODI formats.

Domestic Carrer
Riyan Parag began his domestic career at the age of 15, playing in the 2016–17 Inter-State T20 Tournament for Assam in 2017 against Jharkhand. Later that year, he made his first-class debut in the 2017–18 Ranji Trophy against Hyderabad.
On 5th February 2018, he made his List A debut in the 2017–18 Vijay Hazare Trophy against Tripura.
In the 2018-19 Vijay Hazare Trophy, Riyan was one of the leading run scorer for Assam, scoring 248 runs in 7 matches.
In the 2023-24 Ranji Trophy, he scored one of the fastest centuries in Ranji history with just 56 balls against Chhattisgarh.
Apart from his outstanding batting performance, Riyan has also made significant contributions with his bowling spell for Assam.
International Debut
On 6th July 2024, Riyan Parag made his T20 International debut for India against Zimbabwe. He became the first male cricketer from Northeast India to be selected for the Indian national squad.
Later, he played in the next three matches of the T20I series against Sri Lanka. There, he delivered an impressive all-round performance with 3/5 in the 1st T20I and scored a quick 26 off 18 balls in the 3rd T20I.
Then, on 3rd August 2024, Parag made his ODI debut in the 3rd match of the series against Sri Lanka and made an immediate impact by taking 3 wickets in his debut match.
IPL Career
Riyan Parag made his IPL debut in 2019 after being signed by the Rajasthan Royals for Rs 20 lakhs. Same season, he made history by becoming the youngest player (17 years and 175 days old) in IPL history to score a half-century.
Following years, he continued to be one of the consistent performers for the Rajasthan Royals. In the 2022 season, he showcased his all-round abilities by taking 17 catches, which was one of the highest in that season as a non-wicketkeeper.
In the 2024 season, Parag emerged as one of the leading run-scorers for the Rajasthan Royals by scoring 573 runs in 14 innings.
Later on IPL 2025, he was retained by Rajasthan Royals for ₹14 crore. Due to an injury to regular captain Sanju Samson, Riyan Parag was appointed as the captain of the Rajasthan Royals for the 2025 season.
