The BCCI has officially announced that the 18th season of the ongoing IPL 2025 remaining matches has been suspended indefinitely due to escalating military tensions between India and Pakistan. The suspension decision was made by the BCCI after an emergency meeting held today, prioritising the safety of players, staff, and spectators.
Abandoned PBKS vs DC Match
Yesterday, May 8th, the match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in Dharamsala was abandoned midway due to security concerns. The players were moved from Dharamsala by the Railways due to the airport closure. Spectators were evacuated in Dharamsala, stating the failure of the floodlights. The next match in Dharamsala was also relocated to Ahmedabad due to logistical challenges and airport closures in the conflict-affected regions. But today in the meeting, the BCCI decided to suspend the IPL 2025 indefinitely.

Pakistan Super League (PSL) Relocation
In Pakistan, PSL matches were going on, and due to security reasons, they have also cancelled all the matches in Pakistan. A drone reportedly crashed near Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium hours before a PSL match. They have relocated their remaining matches to the United Arab Emirates to ensure player safety amid the ongoing conflict.
Future of IPL 2025
The BCCI has not announced any resumption date or relocation regarding the next IPL matches. There is no clarity regarding the resumption of the tournament.
The matches may be resumed after a few days when the condition improves between both countries later in the year, or the remaining matches may be relocated to other countries.
