Call of Duty: Warzone Season 4 update is going to introduce Ranked Resurgence, which will be added to the existing modes and will be included in the Verdansk map. This update aims to diversify gameplay while offering a fresh competitive path for both old and new players.

Ranked Resurgence will contain the smaller Rebirth Island map with smaller lobbies and a respawn feature. Players can earn Skill Rating (SR) through eliminations and placement. It follows the tiered ranking system from Bronze to Top 250 globally for the competitive mindset.

What is Warzone Ranked Resurgence?

Call of Duty’s battle royale title received its Season 4 update, and this is the second time it has featured Ranked Resurgence as a competitive playlist. It was first added during the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 cycle between 2023 and 2024.

The Ranked Resurgence consists of the smaller Rebirth Island map, which has reduced the number of players and the option to respawn.

When players are eliminated, the Resurgence timer starts counting down, and once it reaches zero, players who have been eliminated are redeployed back into the action.

Teams will earn the Skill Rating (SR), and similarly to other Warzone game modes, eliminations paired with high placement during the match earn the team that stands out until last to be considered as the winners.

Every skill division has a predetermined amount of SR set for moving up the ranks, starting from the Bronze division and culminating at the top 250 players in the world with the highest SR.

What is the Impact on Warzone eSports?

As a result of adding another competitive playlist to a player base that is already small relative to the casual community. There is a risk of splitting players who enjoy the slower pace of Verdansk versus those who prefer a constantly hectic atmosphere on Rebirth Island.

To resolve which teams will be competing at the season-concluding World Series of Warzone, Activision has implemented in-game playlists as open qualifiers where players can compete with the best players globally.

While the release of Ranked Resurgence may further divide Warzone’s already fragmented competitive community, the addition of a second playlist could provide a way for new players to complete the game’s highest level.
