This year’s ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is being watched worldwide as the most anticipated cricket tournament of the year. Finally, the tournament has entered a phase that is crucial for each team in its own way. The most recent highlight in this tournament is coming from Rawalpindi where the much-awaited match between Australia and South Africa at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium was abandoned due to rain that left both teams with a draw and a single point to each side.
The result of today’s match has left us with a wide range of formations possible for the semifinals. From Group A, India and New Zealand have secured their spots after leaving behind Pakistan and Bangladesh in their group but from Group B, we have no secured semifinalists available as of now. The remaining matches of the group stage will define the final standings before the knockouts will be played.
Champions Trophy 2025 Overview
This is the 9th edition of the ICC Champions Trophy, which Pakistan will host this year from February 19 to March 9. Eight of the top cricketing teams in the ODI Rankings are competing at three locations in Pakistan: Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi. However, due to security concerns raised by BCCI, the Indian team’s matches are taking place in Dubai instead of Pakistan.
Format of the tournament:
- All the 8 teams are divided into two groups (A & B).
- Each team plays three matches at the group stage level.
- The top two teams from each group qualify for the semifinals.
- The end match of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 for the title wwinner will be played on the 9th of March.
