Call of Duty Black Ops 7 Officially Revealed Ahead of CDL Championship Weekend 

The reveal of Call of Duty Black Ops 7 marked a major milestone in Activision’s blockbuster FPS franchise during the Xbox Games Showcase in 2025. The new addition shifts back to near-future warfare to continue the famous Black Ops saga.

The timing of this reveal is even more important strategically: it comes just a few weeks before the CDL Championship Weekend, suggesting what competitive players might expect from the next esports season.

A Return to Futuristic Warfare

Treyarch is working on Black Ops 7 with Raven Software, adding a new single-player co-op campaign. While there is no information on multiplayer aspects, the game trailer offered a preview of its theme and gameplay.

The trailer hints at the addition of wingsuits and invisibility cloaks, suggesting advanced movement features would be returning. It is similar to what was present in older titles such as Black Ops 3 and Infinite Warfare.

This is also the first time Activision has consecutively released titles under the Black Ops banner, showing significant investment in the sub-franchise. Key visuals from the game had a date as well: June 20, 2025, indicating that additional reveals may come at the next Call of Duty: NEXT event. During this event, we can expect details on multiplayer, zombies, and Warzone content.

The next CDL season will officially be branded “Black Ops 7” upon its release later this year.
