BCCI to Offer Ishan Kishan a Golden Comeback Opportunity Ahead of Bangladesh Tests
2 min readSince the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) rejected Ishan Kishan’s request for a central contract earlier in February of this year, there has been a sense of ambiguity about Kishan’s future in international cricket, regardless of the format. Since then, he has not been included in any Indian squads, not even for the T20 World Cup, and his potential comeback was not discussed at Gautam Gambhir’s inaugural news conference as the men’s team’s head coach. Ishan, nevertheless, will have a fantastic chance to make a return to the Indian team before the selection meeting for the Bangladesh Test series takes place the following month.
Why Ishan Kishan was out of team
Ishan, who was benched last year for choosing not to play for the Ranji Trophy, reportedly made himself available for the upcoming domestic season after receiving advice from national selectors. The Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) has already added him to their list of 25 pre-season probables. This information was reported earlier this month in Cricbuzz. Weeks after BCCI secretary Jay Shah reaffirmed that all eligible players, including India’s probables, should play for their respective states when not on national duty, the development took place.

The wicketkeeper-batter will represent Jharkhand in the Buchi Babu invitational, which gets underway in Chennai on August 15th, according to a subsequent report from News 18.
Comeback Reports
But according to a recent report published in the Indian Express on Monday, Ishan is expected to be chosen by the selection committee headed by Ajit Agarkar for the Duleep Trophy, which will take place between September 5 and September 24. The local competition, which will also include regulars like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, will be crucial in helping the selectors choose the 15-man team for the September 19–22 Test series against Bangladesh.
According to the source, if Ishan wishes to make a comeback for the Indian team, the selectors want him to start playing red-ball cricket again.
Earlier this month, during the ODI series against Sri Lanka, Shreyas Iyer, who was similarly refused a contract as Ishan, returned to the Indian side.
