Historic First Women’s Test Match Between India and England Set for Lord’s in 2026
2 min readIn 2026, the venerable Lord’s Stadium will play home to the first-ever women’s Test match, the England and Wales Cricket Board revealed on August 22. India will visit England for a single Test match at the Lord’s in 2026, according to the ECB.
In December 2023, India and England engaged in a one-time women’s Test match. DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai was the venue for the match, where India crushed England by an overwhelming 347 runs. Women’s matches have previously been held at The Lord’s, although they have always been played in the white-ball variant of the sport.

The first-ever Women’s Test to be held at the Home of Cricket, Lord’s, has also been confirmed to host an India Women Test match in 2026. Although there have been white-ball meetings between England Women and Lord’s for the last three years, a Women’s Test match will be held there for the first time, according to an announcement from the ECB.

The Indian women’s team will also trip England in 2025 to play a white-ball series prior to their Test match in 2026. The team will play five Twenty20 Internationals against England, beginning at Nottingham on June 28. The series’ last Twenty20 International will take place in Nottingham on July 12. Beginning on July 16, the women’s squad will play a three-match ODI series against England. On July 22, the 50-over series comes to a close.
I’m also happy to announce that the first-ever women’s Test match at Lord’s will feature India Women vs England Women in 2026. The event will be extremely meaningful and exceptional, according to ECB Chief Executive Officer Richard Gould.
