Asia Cup 2023: India’s Predicted 11 against Nepal

India vs nepal

In the current Asia Cup 2023, the Indian team had a difficult day against Pakistan as they were tormented by the Men in Green pacers and just managed to put up a respectable score on the board before rain ended the game. To advance to the Super 4s stage, they must defeat Nepal in their upcoming encounter on September 4.

Nepal will play India in their first-ever ODI against their neighbours after losing to Pakistan by 238 runs in the tournament opener in Multan. The Pallekele Stadium in Kandy, Sri Lanka, will host the game.

India will join Pakistan from Group A in the Super 4s stage if they win this match. They must select the best starting lineup for the important game, which, while being against the underdog Nepal, must be taken lightly.

Here is the predicted 11 for Todays Match

Rohit Sharma

Along with Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma is a key component of the Indian batting lineup. Earlier in the innings, Rohit Sharma looked strong against Shaheen Afridi, hitting two boundaries off of him.

After the rain delay, Afridi shortened his delivery and skillfully bowled two outswingers before returning to the opening to dispatch the Indian skipper for a clean bowled score.

Rohit will have the best opportunity to settle into the competition and get ready for the challenges that lie ahead in the Super 4s stage during the game against Nepal.

Shubhman Gill

In the opening game for India in the 2023 Asia Cup, Shubman Gill appeared nervous and uneasy against the Pakistani pace assault of Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, and Haris Rauf.

Shubman Gill had a wonderful first half of 2023, but ever since then, he has battled with his form. This was evident during the West Indies tour, where he only scored two half-centuries on the trip, one in each of the ODIs and T20Is.

He is still one of the most talented young batters, has a history of scoring heavily, and has a fantastic opportunity to turn things around against Nepal.

Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli was out for four runs after being hit by Shaheen Afridi and chopping onto his stumps. However, he had presented well during his brief visit as his drive for four shown that Kohli is still in excellent shape. He simply had a bad day and got fired.

In addition, Kohli will be anxious to practise his hitting against Nepal on Monday in Kandy before India, should they triumph and go to the Super 4s stage, moves on to more important material.

Shreyas Iyer

In his first appearance in international cricket since March 2023, Shreyas Iyer returned to the no. 4 batting position and hit some powerful drives against the Pakistani pacers. He had a nice appearance, and even the hit that took him out was a full-blooded pull that, regrettably, went right into the fielder’s hands at mid-wicket.

However, there are indications that India has found a replacement for position No. 4, and Iyer is not out of form; he only needs some middle-distance practise before running full-throttle.

Ishan Kishan

Ishan Kishan’s knock at No. 5 was the bright point for India versus Pakistan because his prior performances at that position were not great and he had previously had trouble with spin.

But this time, he was able to establish himself at the wicket against pace, and when the spinners came on, he just played them according to their merits and attacked when necessary. Everyone who saw his knock was astonished by how aggressive and mature it was.

Kishan will have another opportunity against Nepal to make himself undefeatable for next matches with another strong performance in Kandy because KL Rahul is yet to join the Indian team for the Asia Cup.

Hardik Pandya

In recent memory, Hardik Pandya played his most composed innings, and his 87 runs significantly aided India’s eventual posting of a respectable total. It was impressive to see him smash Haris Rauf for three fours in a single over, and it shows the all-rounder is in strong batting form.

When it came to the ball, Hardik had performed admirably in the West Indies, starting the bowling in a few games so that the stronger pacers could bowl important overs in the middle and at the end as well. He may repeat this performance at the World Cup.

Ravindra Jadeja

On the Kandy field, Ravindra Jadeja struggled with the bat and was unable to bowl. He has, however, previously excelled in ODIs and is now well enough to bowl hard at the hitters.

He would be expected to bat higher versus Nepal to get some playing time as well. With the bat, he will be expected to finish the games with some huge strokes.

Shardul Thakur

The pace of the Pakistani bowler was too much for Shardul Thakur, who also failed to increase the Indian score by any runs. It was controversial for India to choose him over Mohammad Shami since they wanted more batting depth than bowling power.

And it is yet unknown if the Indian team management would stick with Shardul Thakur against the underdogs in Nepal or bring back Shami in a match they will aim to win to gain momentum in the competition.

Kuldeep Yadav

In the encounter against Nepal, Kuldeep Yadav will be the player to watch out for as he will be eager to pick up some wickets. In both the ODIs and T20Is against the West Indies, he was the star of the match with the ball.

He may make it difficult for the Nepali hitters to survive in the middle and accumulate a high score with his left-arm chinaman bowling.

Mohammed Shami

Mohammed Shami, a seasoned Indian bowler, was left out of India’s starting lineup for the first game against Pakistan. Shami had to withdraw because the team administration put greater faith in Shardul Thakur. Jasprit Bumrah, however, will not be playing in the Men in Blue’s second game owing to personal obligations. This indicates that Shami will make his Asia Cup debut in 2023.

The seasoned fast bowler will be in charge of India’s pace attack against Nepal, who have suffered a crushing loss in their inaugural Asia Cup encounter.
