The men’s and women’s cricket teams in India are expected to want to build on their successful 2023 campaign in 2024, with another exciting year planned for the squad.
In 2023, the Indian women’s cricket team defeated Australia and England handily in Test cricket, while the men’s squad advanced to the final of both the ODI World Cup and the ICC World Test Championship.
This year, the Indian cricket teams, both men’s and women’s, will participate in several bilateral series both at home and away in all three forms. For both cricket sides, though, the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 will take precedence.
The Indian men’s team last won an ICC trophy in 2013, winning the ICC Champions Trophy after defeating England in the championship match. MS Dhoni guided the team to victory. Even though they have advanced to the final of both the ODI and T20 World Cups, the women’s team has never taken home an ICC title. With the start of India’s five-match Test series against England on January 25, January will be an especially hectic month.
Indian cricket players will participate in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2024 in addition to the international tour. India has no international matches slated during the IPL 2024 window, which runs from March to May. The squad will go to the West Indies and the USA for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 in June after the IPL.
