After Rohit and company ended the Men in Blue’s protracted quest for an ICC trophy, jubilant Team India was greeted with a thunderous cheer. At the Kensington Oval, India defeated South Africa in a thrilling last-over match to win their second T20 World Cup.

As they entered the latter stages of their illustrious international careers, Rohit and Kohli were crucial to their final dance in the T20 World Cup. In the ICC event’s summit match, captain Rohit rallied his team to secure a historic seven-run victory for the two-time winners, while Kohli returned to his best. The T20 World Cup, Rohit led India from the front, smashing three half-centuries.

In the ICC World T20, Rohit delivered India’s retribution by defeating Australia in a replay of the 2023 World Cup final. Not over an hour had passed since India’s dramatic victory over South Africa, and batting great Virat Kohli had announced his retirement from the international shortest format. In the championship game, Rohit’s Team India defeated South Africa thanks to a game-winning innings of 76 from Kohli. In an interview with media, Rohit disclosed that he had also played his last Twenty20 international match for India, joining Kohli in the retirement club.
