On Friday, August 30, the second Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh was postponed owing to heavy rain in Rawalpindi. Shortly after the first session ended, the Pakistan Cricket Board declared that play would not be feasible at the Pindi Cricket Stadium because of the rainy conditions. Because of the overnight rain, puddles had developed on the outfield, thus the officials called off the opening day early.

Day 1 of the second test between Pakistan and Bangladesh was postponed owing to heavy rain on Friday in Rawalpindi. Pakistan needs a win badly to tie the series after Bangladesh surprised them last week in the city by winning the first game of the series by ten wickets.

When the players and support personnel from the two sides arrived early at the Pindi Cricket Stadium, they were met with the sight of rain falling heavily on the pitch.

Rain puts pressure on Pakistan

Pakistan will be under duress following a comprehensive defeat on the playing day. To avoid losing a series for the first time ever against Bangladesh, the hosts must win the second Test. Pakistan removed their renowned bowler Shaheen Afridi from the 12-man team named for the second Test, presumably in a panic following the shocking loss in the first Test of the series.

Abrar Ahmed, a right-arm off-spinner, was included in Pakistan’s final twelve. However, skipper Shan Masood and head coach Jason Gillespie will have to consider a lot before deciding on their playing XI, as rain is predicted for both Day 4 and Day 5 of the Test match.

Bangladesh, on the other hand, will be looking to build on their victory momentum following a series opening in which they overpowered the hosts at the bat. Bangladesh crushed Masood’s team by 10 wickets in Rawalpindi on Sunday, recording their first-ever victory over Pakistan in a Test match.
