Due to a side strain injury, Shivam Dube, an all-rounder for Team India and Mumbai, is probably going to miss the rest of the Ranji season.
He was rested for Mumbai’s match against Chhatisgarh in the group stage, but he was back in action for the decisive victory against Assam, when he scored an undefeated hundred.
Dube is an essential part of Team India and the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for the 2018 T20 season, which includes the T20 World Cup and the Indian Premier League (IPL). Lately, he has been playing well in every format.
He has been very useful with the bat and ball in the current Ranji Trophy season, taking 12 wickets and scoring 407 runs at an average of 67.83 in five matches.
Due to a bilateral side strain, Dube will probably miss the remainder of the Ranji Trophy tournament. He did not field in Assam’s second innings at BKC after sustaining an injury while batting in the previous match against Assam (he scored 121 not out). His tear is of grade one. He is expected to be replaced by Musheer Khan, a young all-round player who performed well for the India Under-19 side at the recent U-19 World Cup in South Africa, a source informed the Times of India.

Musheer Khan made his debut in 2022 and has since played three first-class matches. He was among the top run scorers at the just finished U-19 World Cup 2024 in South Africa. At a 19.20 average, he has scored 96 runs in five innings.

The selection committee is probably going to get together and choose the team for Mumbai’s next match, which is set to start on Friday, February 23, in the Ranji Trophy quarterfinal versus Baroda.
After Hardik Pandya’s injury during the ODI World Cup 2023 , Dube was Team India’s go-to all-rounder in the shorter format.
Making the most of the chance, he was considered for the T20 World Cup team and scored back-to-back fifties in the home T20I series against Afghanistan in January 2024.
In less than a month, Dube hopes to recover in time for the 2024 IPL season. In the 2023 edition, he had been a key player in CSK’s record-tying 5th championship victory.
