G2 Esports Becomes First Team to Qualify for VALORANT Champions Paris 2025

Popular esports team G2 Esports has once again proved that they are the ultimate champions of VALORANT. They became the first team to secure a spot in the VALORANT Champions Paris 2025.

This opportunity came for them after a clean sweep against Xi Lai Gaming during the VCT Masters Toronto. This victory laid the path for G2 to get enough Championship Points to book their seat at the season’s grand finale. With 18 points already secured through the standout shows in 2025, the team continues to solidify its place among the global elite.

G2 Esports Championship Points Run and Rivalry With 2GAME Esports

G2 punched their ticket to Paris with a stellar showing across the entire VCT 2025 calendar. The squad won the Americas Kickoff and Stage 1 tour stops and later took second at Masters Bangkok. That haul netted them a total of 18 Championship Points, more than enough to seal a seat at the global finale.

However, the points tally now casts a long shadow over the 2026 league standings. As a current member of the International League, G2’s status can still be threatened by 2GAME Esports (2G). If 2G reaches Champions, tie-breaking rules could force G2 down a rung. For that to happen, 2G has to crack the top two at VCT Americas Stage 2 – a feat they have yet to prove credible. G2’s in-game leader, Jacob Valyn Batio, light-heartedly quipped that he’s simply cheering for 2G’s rivals, saying, “I’m hoping they lose so we don’t get kicked from the league.”

From Ascension to the Top: G2’s Steady Rise

G2’s current lineup was once The Guard, the squad that took home the title at Ascension Americas 2023. When The Guard stepped away from esports, G2 swooped in and signed the roster, a gamble that quickly paid off.

Since donning the G2 badge, the team has turned into one of the most reliable names in the VCT, routinely outclassing rivals at both regional and global stops.

At Masters Toronto, G2 hit an early upper-bracket wall against the juggernaut Paper Rex and slipped to the lower bracket. They bounced back almost at once, defeating Xi Lai Gaming in a clean 2-0 sweep.

Now they set their sights on the loser of the June 16 Sentinels-Paper Rex clash. With a slot at Champions Paris already locked, G2 focuses single-mindedly on lifting its first international VCT trophy and closing the season on a perfect note.
