India Game Developer conference 2023
3 min readAt HICC, Madhapur, Hyderabad, the 15th India Game Developer Conference (IGDC) will take place. The conference, which is billed as being the biggest for game creators in South Asia, will take place from November 2 to November 4.
Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, the IGDC was finally hosted last year after a two-year hiatus. To everyone’s amazement, almost 4,000 individuals, including game developers, publishers, investors, and gaming aficionados, were excitedly anticipating the event.
The Build Your Own Game (BYOG) jam, which requires developers to create a game in a set amount of time, will also be part of the IGDC this year. The event will also include other customary events including a game exhibition, developer insights, gaming awards, etc.
The prizes will be given out in ten distinct categories. There are several of them, such as the Best Mobile Game of the Year, Best PC/Console Game of the Year, Best Visual Art, Best Gameplay, Best AR/VR Game of the Year, Best Indie Game of the Year, Best Student Game of the Year, Best Upcoming Game of the Year, Best Jury Award for a Game with a Climate Change Theme, and Best Popular Choice Award.

The second-largest market at the moment is the gaming industry in India. Out of the 600 million smartphone users in the country, 400 million+ are gamers. According to Telangana Today, the market value is anticipated to reach $10 billion by 2028.
IGDC supports independent Gaming Studios and Creators
Visitors at the IGDC may learn more about game development, which is helpful for individuals who want to get into the field. They may also try out brand-new ideas and prototype games. This will make it easier to provide the developers the input they need to make additional advancements.
The creators will also be able to present their game concepts at the India Game Developer Conference in hopes of receiving funding. Small game development firms may also produce excellent titles with greater capital.
The video game sector, including both casual gaming and esports, is unaffected by the most recent GST revisions. The circumstance presents an opportunity for the developers to attract solid funding for their gaming endeavours.
This year’s conference agenda includes a variety of interactions, awards, and game-centred activities, including a unique Build Your Own Game (BYOG) game jam, Investor-Publisher Connect, which connects them with studios and developers, IGDC Awards, which recognise and honour game developers and studios across multiple categories.
