Street Fighter’s largest event of the year: Capcom Cup 11

2 min read

Street Fighter 6’s Capcom Pro Tour 2024 is nearing its conclusion, and the Capcom Cup 11 will begin next month. At the Ryōgoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan, 48 players will fight for the $1 million (~£790,000) prize pool at Capcom Cup 11 from March 5–8. This is all the information you want on Street Fighter 6’s most significant event of the year.

Like the previous year’s edition, Capcom Cup 11 will include a group stage and a double-elimination bracket to choose the winner. Participants will first be split up into eight groups at random. They will compete in their groups’ best-of-three (BO3) round-robin matches over three days. Each group’s top two up-and-coming talents will advance to the Top 16 Finals. The athletes who rank first in each group will start on the winner’s side (upper bracket) on the last day of the competition, while the players who place second will start on the loser’s side (lower bracket). After losing a match on the losing side, players who lose in the winner’s bracket move to the losing side and are removed from the competition. Players will compete in BO5 matchups throughout the bracket until the tournament champion is determined.

How to watch the Capcom Cup 11

Each match day will begin at 12 p.m. JST (3 a.m. GMT), and the Capcom Cup will be televised on the official YouTube and Twitch channels. The Street Fighter League: World Championship 2024 will take place concurrently with this year’s event. Held at the same site, the World Championship takes place on March 9th between 11 am and 6 pm JST. Fans may keep track of both event schedules and access on-site ticket sales via the dedicated website.

Players to observe

Ten of the 48 competitors in the Capcom Cup 11 have advanced via Premier Tier competitions, including the Evolution (Evo) Championship Series 2024. The other athletes competed in their respective region’s World Warrior Circuits. Saul Leonardo “MenaRD” Mena, a Dominican player who has previously won the Capcom Cup twice, in 2017 and 2023, will be watched with great interest by fans. The veteran of the fighting game has also won Evo: Japan 2024 this season. Even though the top Street Fighter athletes in the world compete on a very even playing field, several players have excelled throughout the 2024 schedule. American FlyQuest squad member Victor “Punk” Woodley, for example, has won many prestigious competitions this season, such as DreamHack Atlanta 2024 and Evo 2024.
