The 31st match of the TATA IPL 2025 was held on Tuesday at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, Chandigarh. Punjab Kings (PBKS) hosted Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on their home ground and secured a thrilling 16-run victory. PBKS set a new record with this win by defending the lowest total in IPL history.
Punjab Kings won the toss and opted to bat first. However, they could only manage to score a total of 111 runs. Prabhsimran Singh was the standout performer with a quickfire 30 off 15 balls. KKR’s bowlers dominated the innings where Harshit Rana took 3 wickets, while Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine picked up 2 wickets each.
At one point, the match seemed one-sided, with everyone expecting KKR to chase down the target like the last match. But the PBKS bowlers had other plans. They completely turned the game upside down by taking crucial wickets at regular intervals and made them all out within 16 overs.
Yuzvendra Chahal was the star of the bowling attack, he got 4 key wickets, while Marco Jansen supported brilliantly by taking down the other 3 wickets. The rest of the bowling unit also delivered economical spells and picked up other wickets.
Defending a low score total, PBKS pulled off a historic win and set a new record, making it one of the most memorable moments in IPL history.
