Rajat Patidar is a professional Indian cricketer who represented India in ODI and Test formats. He began his career as a right-arm off-break bowler but became a top-order batter.
Patidar was one of the consistent performers in domestic cricket, where he holds the record for the 5th fastest century in Ranji Trophy history (68 balls) and also led the Madhya Pradesh domestic team as a captain.
Later in 2022, he joined RCB in the IPL and became the first uncapped player to score a century in the IPL playoffs. In 2025, he was appointed as captain of RCB, marking a new chapter in his career.

Early Life
Rajat Patidar was born on 1 June 1993 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India. He comes from a business family where his father, Manohar Patidar, was an agricultural pump trader.
Patidar started playing cricket at age 8 at a local club where he was trained as a bowler before switching to batting at the U-15 level. His grandfather played a key role in shaping his career by enrolling him in a proper cricket academy.
Rajath Patidar played in different underage tournaments and represented Madhya Pradesh. His early exposure to structured training and competitive cricket laid a strong foundation for his professional career.

Domestic Career
Rajat Patidar made his first-class debut for Madhya Pradesh on 30 October 2015 against Baroda in the Ranji Trophy. On 8 January 2018, he made his T20 debut for the 2017-18 Zonal T20 League.
Patidar was the leading run-scorer for Madhya Pradesh in the 2018-19 Ranji Trophy with 713 runs in 8 matches. His domestic performances earned him a spot in the India Blue squad for the 2019-20 Duleep Trophy. In the 2024-25 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he was appointed captain of Madhya Pradesh and scored 428 runs in 9 innings with an average of 61.14 and a strike rate of 186.08.
International Career
Rajat Patidar was first selected for the 2022 ODI series against South Africa in Johannesburg. He was later included in the ODI squad for the New Zealand series in February 2023 as a replacement for the injured Shreyas Iyer, but didn’t feature in the playing XI.
Patidar made his ODI debut on 21 December 2023 against South Africa, where he scored 22 runs off 16 balls with a strike rate of 137.50.
Rajat Patidar made his Test debut on 2 February 2024, in the 2nd Test against England, where he replaced Virat Kohli in India’s Test squad for the two-test series.
He played a total of 3 Test matches in the England series but couldn’t make a significant impact with the bat.
Though his international career is still in its early stages, his domestic and IPL performances continue to keep him in the mix for national selection.
IPL Carrer
Rajat Patidar was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the IPL 2021 auction, where he played 4 matches, scoring 71 runs. In 2022, he went unsold in the auction but was later signed in mid-season by RCB as a replacement player and impressed by scoring 112 runs off 54 balls* in the playoffs against Lucknow Super Giants. He became the first uncapped player to score a century in the IPL playoffs.
Later in 2023, he was retained by RCB but missed the entire season due to an Achilles heel injury. In 2024, he made a strong comeback by scoring 395 runs in 13 innings with an average of 30.38 and a strike rate of 177.13.
In IPL 2025, he was again retained by RCB and appointed as the captain. In his captaincy, the team is performing well this season and is hoping to reach the finals.
