Ravindra Jadeja is an Indian international cricketer representing India in ODIs and Test formats. He is an all-rounder with left-handed batting and left-arm orthodox spin bowling. Jadeja is known for his accurate spin bowling, sharp fielding, and valuable contributions in lower-order batting. He is famous for his sword celebration when he scores fifties or takes the key wickets. Jadeja has been awarded the Arjuna Award for his outstanding performance in sports.

Early Life
Ravindra Jadeja was born on December 6, 1988, in Navagam-Khed, Jamnagar district, Gujarat, India. Jadeja’s full name is Ravindrasinh Anirudhsinh Jadeja. His father, Anirudhsinh Jadeja, was a watchman, and his mother, Lata Jadeja, was a nurse. Jadeja was born and brought up in a lower-middle-class Rajput family. His father asked him to join the army, but Jadeja was passionate about cricket. He was trained by Coach Mahendrasinh Chauhan at the Cricket Academy of Jamnagar.
Initially, Jadeja started with a fast bowler, and later his coach preferred to switch to left-arm orthodox spin bowling. Later, he joined and played in various underage teams and showcased his talent. His performance earned him a spot in various other domestic and franchise teams.

Domestic Career
Ravindra Jadeja made his first-class debut in 2006 for Saurashtra in the Ranji Trophy. In that time, he was one of the best all-rounders with his impressive batting and accurate spin bowling. Later, he scored 3 triple centuries in the Ranji Trophy. He was the second Indian to reach the 3 triple centuries milestone.
Jadeja also gave his best in India A tours from 2007 to 2011, where he delivered match-winning performances against Australia A, South Africa A, and West Indies A.
These performances helped him earn a call-up from the national team.
International Career
Ravindra Jadeja made his international debut by playing an ODI for India on February 8, 2009, against Sri Lanka in Colombo. In his debut match, he scored 60* for 77 and proved himself as one of the good batsmen in the lower order and a better fielder. He took over 200 wickets in the ODI format.
On February 10, 2009, Jadeja made his T20I debut against Sri Lanka and became a regular part of the Indian T20I squad.
Later, on December 13, 2012, he made his Test debut against England in Nagpur. He was ranked the ICC No. 1 Test all-rounder in 2017. Jadeja also took 280+ wickets in the Test format.
On June 30, 2024, Jadeja retired from the T20I format and continued to play ODIs and Test matches for India.
IPL Career
Ravindra Jadeja made his IPL debut in 2009 for the Rajasthan Royals. He got limited opportunities in RR but performed well as an all-rounder. From 2012 to 2015, Jadeja played for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and became one of the key all-rounders for CSK. Contributed to CSK’s IPL wins in 2013 and 2015.
Later in 2016 and 2017, he played for the Gujarat Lions and performed well as an all-rounder.
Then in 2018, Jadeja returned for CSK and played multiple seasons for CSK. He was one of the consistent and valuable players for CSK. Jadeja played a crucial role in CSK’s IPL title wins in 2018, 2021, and 2023.
Currently in IPL 2025, Jadeja was retained by CSK for Rs 18 crore in the mega auction, and he is performing well this season.
