3 min read
The 42nd match of the TATA IPL 2025 was held at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Thursday. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) won the match by 11 runs against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) and secured their second victory over RR in IPL 2025.
RR won the toss and chose to bowl first. In the first innings, RCB’s batsmen dominated with their outstanding batting in the first 10 overs and the death overs. In the middle overs, RR bowlers picked up some wickets and managed to restrict a few of the settled batsmen. RCB’s impressive batting performance came from Virat Kohli (70 off 42 balls) and Devdutt Padikkal (50 off 27 balls).
Initially, RR also got a good start second innings, with Yashasvi Jaiswal contributing 49 from 19 balls. However, the other batsmen struggled to build partnerships due to the regular fall of wickets. Despite that, the run flow didn’t stop. Until the 18th over, it was a neck-and-neck contest, but in the 19th over, Josh Hazlewood bowled an impressive spell, took 2 wickets in a single over, and shifted the momentum in RCB’s favor.
With this loss, RR is unofficially out of the tournament as they cannot reach 16 points in their remaining matches, and also they can’t qualify for the playoffs.
Meanwhile, RCB has climbed to third position on the points table with this win and has a high chance of qualifying for the playoffs.
