Rohit Sharma who is popularly known as Hitman, an Indian international cricketer the present captain of the Indian Test and ODI cricket teams, he was also the captain of India’s T20 International team until he announced his retirement on June 29, 2024 for the T20 format, after leading the India team to a successful T20I World Cup 2024 victory.
He was also the captain of the Mumbai Indians for ten years in the IPL and led them to a five-season victory. Rohit is well known for his batting power and is also called “Hitman” by his fans and followers. Rohith Sharma is also an occasional off-spinner bowler.

Early Life
Rohit Sharma was born on April 30 1987, in Bansod, Maharashtra. His cricketing career started in early 1999 when he attended a cricket camp with his uncle’s money, where coach Dinesh Lad, a friend of his uncle, recognized his potential. At that time, Lad was actively encouraging new talents and was particularly impressed by Sharma’s bowling skills. Aware that Sharma’s uncle could not afford the coaching fees for the school where Lad coached, Lad convinced the school’s director to admit Sharma as a student and exempt his fees, thereby granting him access to quality training facilities. Initially, Sharma was specialized in spin bowling before shifting his focus towards batting.

Domestic Career
Rohit Sharma made his initial debut in domestic cricket in a List A match in 2006, where he scored an unbeaten 31 runs for the West Zone against the Central Zone during the Deodhar Trophy. He made an immediate impact with his calm batting style and strong technique.
His breakthrough came during the 2006–07 Ranji Trophy, where he scored a double century against Gujarat, which caught the attention of national selectors. His performance in the tournament earned him a spot on the India A team in 2007.
Rohit was also a part of the India A and Under-19 teams, performing consistently and proving his potential. His early performances in domestic cricket laid a strong foundation for his international career. From representing Mumbai, he went on to become one of the most reliable batsmen in international format, contributing significantly to the team’s success in various tournaments.
International Career
Rohit Sharma made his international debut in an ODI against Ireland on June 23, 2007. He holds the record for the highest individual score in ODIs with 264 Runs, and he is the only player to score three double centuries in ODIs.
He later made his Test debut on November 6, 2013, against the West Indies at Eden Gardens, where he impressed with a century.
His T20 International debut came earlier, during the ICC World T20 on September 19, 2007, against England. He played a crucial role in India’s World Cup campaigns, especially in 2019 where he scored five centuries and finished as the highest run-scorer. Rohit has also been a standout performer in T20s, becoming the only Indian to play in every T20 World Cup since 2007, and also led India to victory in the 2024 in his captaincy. Known for his calm leadership, he has captained India in all formats, including series wins in England and an Asia Cup title in 2018. He retired from T20 internationals in 2024 after winning the T20 World Cup, continuing to play in ODIs and Tests.
IPL Career
Rohit Sharma started his IPL career in 2008 with the Deccan Chargers franchise, and he was a part of the Deccan Chargers team that secured victory in the IPL’s Second season in 2009.
During the 2011 IPL auction, Rohit Sharma was picked by the Mumbai Indians, where he recorded his first century in the IPL Format. In 2013, he was appointed as the captain of the Mumbai Indians. In his leadership, MI won the IPL title five times ( 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020). In 2024, Rohith Sharma stepped down from the Mumbai Indians captaincy, and in IPL 2025, he was retained by the Mumbai Indians, but due to some fitness issues, he was dropped from the playing XI in the recent LSG v/s MI game.
