Shivam Dube is an Indian international cricketer known for his power-hitting ability, especially against spin bowling. He is a hard-hitting all-rounder who can shift the momentum of the game quickly with a bat or ball. 

He represents Mumbai in domestic cricket and plays for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL 2025. Dube made his international debut in 2019 by playing T20Is and ODIs for India.

He was a key member of the Indian team that won the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup, making a crucial contribution of 27 runs in 16 balls in the final against South Africa, and also played a major role in CSK’s title-winning 2023 IPL season, scoring 418 runs in that season at a strike rate of 158.33.

Over the years, he has improved as a reliable middle-order batter and a useful medium-pace bowler in T20s.

Early Life

Shivam Dube was born on 26 June 1993 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. His father, Rajesh Dube, was from Uttar Pradesh; due to the work, he had migrated to Mumbai.​

Dube began playing cricket at the age of six. His father was very supportive of his cricketing career. His father enrolled him in the Chandrakant Pandit Cricket Academy in Andheri West, Mumbai, to encourage his talent. Later, Dube was trained under coach Satish Samant.​

At the age of 14, Dube stopped his cricket coaching due to being overweight, and some financial challenges also arose for the Dube family at that time. At the age of 19, he made a comeback by solving the overweight issues and was soon selected for the Mumbai Under-23 team, marking the beginning of his professional cricketing career.

Domestic Career

Shivam Dube made his T20 debut for Mumbai in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in 2016; later, in 2017, he made his List A debut in the Vijay Hazare Trophy for Mumbai, and in the same year, he made his First-Class debut in the Ranji Trophy and took a five-wicket haul in the first innings.

In 2018 during the Mumbai T20 League, Dube smashed five sixes in one over to Pravin Tambe; he was also named Player of the Tournament that season. Then, in the same year again, he hit five sixes in one over again, this time against Baroda in the Ranji Trophy.

In the 2018 Ranji Trophy, Dube took 7/54 against Karnataka, which was his second first-class five-wicket haul, and at the end of the season, Dube was Mumbai’s leading wicket-taker with 23 wickets in 8 matches.

International Career

Shivam Dube made his T20I debut on 3 November 2019 against Bangladesh. He has played 35 T20I matches and scored 531 runs with an average of 31.23 at a strike rate of 135; his top score is 63*. As a bowler also, he made an impact by taking down 13 wickets with an average of 34.23. In the 2024 T20 World Cup, he scored a crucial 27 off 16 balls in the final vs South Africa, helping India clinch the title.

Dube made his ODI debut on 15 December 2019 against the West Indies. He has played only 4 ODIs until now with limited opportunities due to strong competition in India’s squad. He has scored 43 runs with an average of 10.75 and got 1 wicket in bowling in ODI format.

IPL Career

Shivam Dube made his IPL debut in 2019 after being picked up by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for ₹5 crore. At RCB, he was primarily utilized as a lower middle-order batter and a part-time bowler

In 2021 he moved to Rajasthan Royals and played a few key knocks, including a crucial 64 runs against CSK in Abu Dhabi.

In 2022 Chennai Super Kings bought Dube in the mega auction for ₹4 crore. There he settled as the power hitter in the middle overs. The 2023 season was his breakthrough with CSK, where he played a major role in CSK’s title-winning by scoring 418 runs in that season at a strike rate of 158.33.

In 2024 he was retained by CSK for ₹4 crore and performed well with ball & bat and also earned Player of the Match for that explosive knock. For IPL 2025, Dube was retained by the CSK for Rs 12 crore.
