Mohammed Siraj is an Indian international cricketer from Hyderabad, Telangana, India. He is a right-arm fast bowler with right-hand batting. Siraj is known for his fiery pace and ability to generate swing in the bowling. He has represented India across all formats since 2017 and is also one of the key fast bowlers in international cricket. Domestically, he represents the Hyderabad Team, and in the IPL 2025, he represented the Gujarat Titans.
Apart from cricket, Siraj was also appointed as an honorary Deputy Superintendent of Police in Hyderabad on 11 October 2024.

Early Life
Mohammed Siraj was born on 13 March 1994 in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. He belongs to a Hyderabadi Muslim middle-class family where his father, Mirza Mohammed Ghaus, worked as an auto-rickshaw driver. His mother, Shabana Begum, was a homemaker.
Siraj started to develop an interest in cricket from his young age. He started bowling with a tennis ball at the age of 16. Then, later, he began playing club-level cricket at age 19.
His breakthrough moment was when he took 9 wickets in his first local match while he was playing with his uncle’s team in a Hyderabad Cricket Association tournament. Despite having limited training and facilities, Siraj’s raw pace and dedication helped him to get recognised in the domestic format.

Domestic Career
Siraj began his domestic career with Hyderabad, where he made his first-class debut on 15 November 2015 in the Ranji Trophy. He entered formal cricket without any professional coaching, and his consistency and dedication enabled him to excel in bowling.
Later, on 2 January 2016, Siraj made his T20 debut by playing in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. His breakthrough season was the 2016-17 Ranji Trophy, where he took 41 wickets with a bowling average of 18.92. He was Hyderabad’s leading wicket-taker on the 2016-17 Ranji Trophy. Then in the 2017-18 Vijay Hazare Trophy, Siraj came up as a leading wicket-taker with 23 wickets in 7 matches.
Siraj was also part of the India A team in the 2018-19 Deodhar Trophy and in the India B team in the 2019-20 Deodhar Trophy.
International Career
Mohammed Siraj made his international debut for India on 4 November 2017, earning his first cap in a T20I match against New Zealand in Rajkot. His first wicket was Kane Williamson. He represented India in 16 T20Is and picked up 14 wickets.
On 15 January 2019, Siraj made his ODI debut against Australia at Adelaide Oval. His impressive performance came in the Asia Cup 2023 Final against Sri Lanka, where he took 6/21, including 4 wickets in 1 over. This also made a world record to take a 5-wicket haul in 16 balls. Therefore, Siraj was ranked as the ICC No. 1 ODI bowler on 21 January 2023. Siraj has represented India in 44 ODIs and taken 71 wickets.
IPL Career
Siraj made his IPL debut in 2017 for Sunrisers Hyderabad. He was brought by the SRH for Rs 2.6 crore. In his debut season, he took 10 wickets. Later in the 2018 auction, he was bought by the Royal Challengers Bangalore. His impressive performance came on 21 October 2020, when he bowled two consecutive maiden overs against KKR. Siraj became the first bowler to make this achievement. Due to his consistent performance, he was retained by RCB for multiple seasons.
Therefore, in the IPL 2025 Mega Auction, Siraj was released by the RCB. He was brought by the Gujarat Titans for Rs 12.25 crore. He was one of the key bowlers for the GT team after Shami’s injury in the team.
