Team Heretics and MIBR Knocked Out from VALORANT Masters Toronto

Team Heretics and MIBR Knocked Out from VALORANT Masters Toronto

As the VALORANT Masters Toronto reaches its fourth day. EMEA’s Team Heretics and Americas’ MIBR faced their first eliminations in the tournament. Both teams have been eliminated from the tournament, and they are no longer in the competition.

Both teams came into the tournament facing do-or-die matches. However, Team Heretics lost against the Wolves Esports, and MIBR lost against Team Liquid.

As the Swiss Stage heads toward its final round, the remaining squads are feeling the pressure to secure one of the playoff slots.

Wolves Defeated Heretics with Tactical Mastery

Team Heretics got eliminated from the tournament after being defeated by the Wolves Esports in the Elimination Round. Earlier, Wolves had lost against Sentinels, but in this match, they made a comeback by winning the series 2-0.

The first match opened up on Pearl, which was a risky map pick for Heretics given their previous 1-13 loss. Wolves took advantage of this with their double sentinel (Chamber and Vyse) dismantling Heretics off a disciplined defensive structure with calculated rotations on offence. Wolves were not going to let Pearl slip, and despite a Heretics second-half surge, took it 13-10.

On the second map, Lotus, both sides struggled to control the map, especially on C-site attacks. Wolves were the first to start on Lotus and started strong (7-5) and ended with a closing of the series 13-9. The standout performer of the match was Liu ‘Spring’ Jiunting, who was playing Astra and Viper. He ended the match with a K-D of 44/29 and an ACS of 260. Many fans felt he fully deserves the title of MVP, as it was obvious his game sense and stunning ability to know when to move made that invaluable.

Team Liquid’s Rotational Gamble Pays Off

The match between Team Liquid and MIBR was predicted to be quite intensive. Especially with Liquid’s IGL nAts returning to the lineup after missing the opening game, it was a game changer for them. To everyone’s surprise, Liquid decided to stick with a six-man roster, keeping Erik ‘penny’ Penny in for the first game and bringing Maikls ‘SerialKiller’ Zdanovs back for the second game. This gamble ended up paying off tremendously as Liquid swept the match against MIBR by 2-0.

The series opener took place on Icebox, where Liquid’s comfort with individual playstyles shone through. Penny spearheaded the team’s offence as a duellist, while nAts was a lurking master, which helped Liquid achieve a commanding 13-6 victory. On the second map, Sunset, Liquid came up with a Viper-Cypher setup with Serial back in the mix. Georgio ‘Keiko’ Sanassy’s impactful Omen plays alongside Liquid’s structural prowess earned a 13-7 win.
