EDG reclaim top honors in VCT China Kickoff Tournament against Trace Esports

Edward Gaming becomes VCT China Kickoff 2025 champions by beating Trace Esports in the Grand Finals 3-1.

It is the second time Edward Gaming has won the title. Their win automatically grants them the first seed in China for VALORANT Masters in Bangkok.

Zheng ‘ZmjjKK’ Yongkang, the MVP of the tournament, had an ACS of 270 through 333 rounds of play with a 1.27 KD. In the post-match interview, ZmjjKK stated, “If EDG had not appeared, VCT China would have been in eternal darkness.”

Trace Esports knocked EDG to the lower bracket just three days prior, making this Grand Finals a match of revenge for the latter.

Things kicked off on Lotus with a gritty OT. EDG had a first-half advantage, but after the switch, Trace Esports traded six rounds in a row for an 11-7 lead and managed to make the map overtime.

Trace Esports started Bind, setting everything in motion with a 6-0 lead. EDG picked up some momentum and kept it close, though they eventually started blowing the map after soon securing a 13-11 victory.

Lotus went somewhat like Abyss; this time EDG took the win. The fourth and deciding map was Fracture, where EDG crushed its opponent by 13-2, taking the series 3-1 and netting three Championship Points in the season of VCT 2025.

Trace Esports and Edward Gaming will first meet again in their international debut, Masters Bangkok, on February 20.
