Wolves Esports and Paper Rex Secure Final Playoff Spots at VALORANT Masters Toronto

VALORANT Masters Toronto matches are intensifying. Finally, two more teams have qualified for the playoffs. Wolves Esports from China and Paper Rex from the Pacific Region have qualified for the playoffs. Both teams earned their playoff spots after impressive Day 5 performances. Their victories finalise the Swiss Stage, confirming the eight teams that will compete in the elimination rounds from June 13.

Wolves Dominated Bilibili Gaming.

In a thrilling rematch between Wolves Esports and Bilibili Gaming (BLG), Wolves avenged their loss in Stage 1 by decisively winning a 2-0 sweep.

The match began on Ascent, where Wolves debuted an interesting Cypher and Deadlock double-sentinel composition, which struggled against BLG’s default heavy attack. After a close contest, Wolves dominated the second half to achieve an emphatic 13-5 victory.

On the second map, Split, Wolves demonstrated their prowess by utilising unconventional Viper utility on the A-site.

Wolves planned an aggressive strategy and got some early kills in rounds, which gave them an upper hand. This approach countered Bilibili Gaming’s defensive plans and led Wolves to win multiple rounds. Although BLG was successful in both pistol rounds, Wolves took the map 13-10 and completed the series 2-0, securing the playoff spot they deserved.

Paper Rex Survives Liquid’s Push in a Nail-Biting Series

The final match at the Swiss stage was between Paper Rex (PRX) and Team Liquid. This match brought excitement, as it was a three-map thriller.

PRX looked to be in great shape as they began Split. But Liquid pulled off a 15-13 win after forcing overtime.

However, on the second map, Sunset, PRX made a comeback with exceptional site control and Sage wall plays, ending the map 13-5.

In the final third map, PRX nearly faltered on Lotus after leading Liquid 11-1. With ‘penny’ subbed in as Liquid’s sixth man, the team launched a heroic comeback to push through to overtime. Liquid came dangerously close to completing the comeback, but PRX was able to focus and clinch the match 14-12. With this win, PRX won the match 2-1 and secured a spot in the playoffs.
