Early Life

Yashasvi Jaiswal was born on 28 December 2001 in Suriyawan, Bhadohi district, Uttar Pradesh. He was the youngest of four siblings in a modest middle-class family. His father, Bhupendra Jaiswal, owns a small hardware store, and his mother, Kanchan Jaiswal, is a homemaker.

At the age of 10, Jaiswal moved to Mumbai to receive better cricket coaching.

He stayed in a tent at Azad Maidan for nearly three years while undergoing training.

To manage his expenses, he sold panipuri to earn money.

However, he also faced extreme poverty, hunger, and unstable living conditions while balancing his practice.

In 2013, Jaiswal joined Jwala Singh’s cricket academy in Santacruz. Jwala Singh provided him with shelter, coaching, and mentorship, and later became his legal guardian.

Thereafter, Yashasvi Jaiswal excelled in various domestic matches and franchise cricket and was later selected for the national team.

In first-class cricket, Jaiswal has scored over 3,700 runs in 36 matches, including 13 centuries and 12 fifties.

In January 2024, he scored his first double century (209 runs) in a Test match against England, becoming the third-youngest Indian to achieve this milestone. He was also part of the Indian squad for the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup but did not play in any matches.

Later, he participated in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024–25 and finished as India’s highest run-scorer, with 391 runs at an average of 43.44.
