India’s Squad for last 3 Test against England Announced
3 min readIndia’s team for the last three Test matches against England was revealed by the BCCI on Saturday. As was to be expected, Virat Kohli was left out of the team for the three Test matches in Ranchi, Dharamsala, and Rajkot. For personal reasons, Virat Kohli will not be available for selection for the rest of the series. The BCCI released a statement saying, “The Board fully respects and supports Kohli’s decision.”
KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja have been selected pending fitness clearance, as was previously reported. After taking a break during the second Test, Mohammed Siraj, the pacer, rejoins the team. In the second innings of India’s Test match against Hyderabad, Jadeja injured his hamstring while trying for a single, while Rahul was out with a quadriceps injury.
“The BCCI medical team’s fitness clearance is required for Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul to participate,” the BCCI said.
Rajat Patidar is still a member of the squad despite Shreyas Iyer’s exclusion from the 17-man roster, while Sarfaraz Khan, who was brought into the team to replace Rahul in the second Test, has kept his spot. It’s interesting that the BCCI news statement made no mention of Iyer’s back problem.

Following the second Test, the right-hander allegedly complained of experiencing problems with his back and groin.
With Iyer’s withdrawal, the only other noteworthy alteration is that Bengal pacer Akash Deep has been added in lieu of Avesh Khan. The latter may now participate in the Ranji Trophy after being cleared. In order for Akash Deep to be prepared for the future, the selectors want to expose him.
Mohammed Shami, a pacer, was not selected as he has not fully recovered from his ankle injury.
Bumrah was reportedly going to be rested for the last two Test matches, but the selection committee has selected him vice captain for the remainder of the competition.
His retention is said to have been significantly influenced by the 10-day respite he received after his valiant performance in Visakhapatnam. Whatever the outcome in Rajkot, Bumrah will probably be rested for the fourth Test in Dharamsala.
The selectors chose to stick with KS Bharat despite his dismal results with the bat and mediocre performance with the gloves in the seven Test matches he has played. In Rajkot, he’ll probably start as India’s goalie. But if he misses this chance, Dhruv Jurel could get a shot in the last two Tests in the series.
