Dhruv Jurel may replace KS Bharat : After losing patience with KS Bharat, Team India is apparently prepared to look at other wicket-keeping possibilities, such as Dhrul Jurel. Beginning on February 15, the third Test match between India and England in Rajkot is expected to see the uncapped player take part in an international match for the first time.
In challenging subcontinental circumstances, KS Bharat has shown great glove work, but he hasn’t yet made an impact with the bat. Making his Test debut in the 2023 Border-Gavaskar series, the Andhra wicket-keeper has an average of only 20.09 and has not yet reached a half-century while playing for his country.
In the most recent second Test against England, which was played on his home field, Bharat failed to leave an impression. In the first and second innings, the wicket-keeper batter returned scores of 17 and 6, respectively. Conversely, Dhruv Jurel has scored runs in both the unofficial series against the England Lions and the 2024 Ranji Trophy.
Dhruv Jurel has a great chance to secure his spot in the Test team, at least till Rishabh Pant returns, with Ishan Kishan and KS Bharat apparently out of the picture for various reasons.
Bharat’s batting has been well below-par, while his ‘keeping hasn’t been great either. He isn’t making use of his chances. Jurel, on the other hand, is talented, has a good attitude and has a bright future. He has done well for Uttar Pradesh, India A and the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL. Don’t be surprised if Jurel makes his Test debut at Rajkot,” a source told TOI.

Ishan Kishan, on the other hand, is supposedly practicing in Baroda with the Pandya brothers instead of competing in the Ranji Trophy. The players’ decision to withdraw from the home red-ball tournament did not satisfy the BCCI in the end.
Pujara is putting up a great fight to perhaps rejoin the Indian red-ball team by making the most of the Ranji Trophy. Instead of running away from the tournament, the board must be expecting that other players would do as he did.
Jasprit Bumrah may rest for Ranchi’s fourth Test.
Recent match-winning efforts by Jasprit Bumrah have shown his indispensable status as a member of Team India, even under subcontinental situations. But, considering the busy schedule that lies ahead, it’s also important to take the right-arm pacer’s workload into account.
According to initial reports, Bumrah was supposed to take a break before Team India’s third Test in Rajkot. However, the team management has been urged to release Bumrah in the third Test as well, giving him a respite in the fourth Test at Ranchiinstead, considering the series precarious 1-1 standing and the ten-day gap between the second and third encounters.
“He could be rested for the fourth Test in Ranchi, which means that he will be fresh and firing for the fifth and final Test in Dharamshala in early March, which could well be the decider of this closely contested series. That’s the point where Bumrah’s presence will make a difference,” the source said.
